In December of 2019, I cohosted my second artist event that I put together alongside Auntie Ros'Zy called The Dos Does The Most (SoLstice Showcase) at Arts On The Ave. Through our combined events we was able to put on a great show of R&B, Hip-Hop and Spoken Word with some big names in the city as well as up and coming artists that would eventually make name for themselves in their own right. It was a huge success, and was a great high point for all the performances I was able to be a part of that year, and in December alone. The last week of the promotional cycle leading to the day of showtime, I wrote "itineraries" for each artist performing that night. As these were artists I respected and enjoyed there different forms expressions, I felt it only right to give the unsure audience members some insight on who they was coming to see. The response was very well received, and this was the first time I showed my skill in writing literary work that wasn't in the creative realm. It was important to include this on my website to indicate to myself that writing is always, always has been, my first love of expression. Before I was known as a rappin' my ass off performer, or as the spoken word poet who had the plug on all the poetry spots at the time. I am a man who loves to write, in all it's forms, and one of my favorite things to write about is artists that deserve to heard and a chance to show the world what they bring to the table.
DEVIN BURGESS

Our DJ for the evening who also will be performing is the illustrious Emcee, Producer & Engineer Big D, better known as Devin Burgess. Since 2014 with his mixtape "SoulMusic", he has been making waves in the city and then some with his heavy rhyme scheme and metaphor driven lyrics over engaging boombap style backdrops. With the Golden-Age of Hip-Hop at the heart of his bars with a modern day edge, his artistry has a well-rounded appeal that would make any music listener think a couple times before calling this rapper trash. As well as being a well rounded rapping entity, he has been furthering his passion of producing with his recent release "idontmakebeats" that is a continuation of his 12+ years of creating music since his younger days playing the piano. A sound style that's ambient but hard-hitting, and style that is soulful yet abstract, Devin continues to push against the boundaries of what sounds can do in the studio and his live sets. You can access his extensive catalog at http://devinburgessmusic.bandcamp.com. Checkout online and live this Saturday one of Cincinnati's livest artist to date.

SUGAR RENEE

The beautiful, sultry, elegant, impactful songbird known as Sugar Renee will more than certainly raise any spirits that is touched by the sound of her voice. For nearly 14 years honing her craft as a vocalist and musician, she has grown into an artist who's main concern when she sings is how much better you feel after her last note has left her lungs. With a range of frequencies backing her up from easy listening Hip-Hop, dreamy Neo-Soul, smokey Jazz, soulful R&B, whatever the mood be she'll set it. Infusing her smooth brush of songwriting, it is just as sexy as it can be playful, sophisticated and empowering. She is also a regular podcaster of 513Heartbeat Radio and photographer/videographer, so if you need to shoot your next photoshoot or music video hit her up.

AUNTIE ROS'ZY

The headlining Light Bright herself, zyzy2Timez known and loved by many as DosDos (Diamond of Statstic; Diamond of Success) is birthday partying it up tomorrow for the second time (because she extra like that!). This self-published Poet and Emcee has come a long way from the fiery pressures she had to go through to get to where she is now. And the resilience of her brilliance is showing not only in her walk, but in her delivery on the mic. A pure definition of how Spoken Word and Hip-Hop are indistinguishable, DosDos weaves in and out of her flow her mind and heart's very contents with each line that she spits. Letting her presence be known braggadociously and sincerely on the struggle and successes that life can bring when you listen to what the pain is teaching. One of the those lessons: Life is worth Living for. Words in action when she turns up on "March Madness", spewing strength in metaphors and wordplay on "Wildflower", or going off the dome ("freestyling") to any beat she is given. She'll make you mad, she'll make you laugh, she may make you cry or make you feel hope, but no matter what her energy will make you feel something real. Every week she goes live on Facebook and/or Instagram doing a freestyle jam session of what she is feeling that day that is just as spectacular as her live performances. If you need some music and words that has that special touch authenticity, then check her out at https://www.facebook.com/dosdosdoesdamost/.
Come and celebrate with us tomorrow, because Dos Does The MOST!!!! #On75WithMyRatchets!!!!!

SOL

Co-hosting this wonderful event that I feel very proud to have the honor of helping become what it is I, Mr. Composed In SoL himself. A Hip-Hop Emcee & Poet who has been writing since early high school to becoming well known live performer and artist. After a dark and self-destructive year of having his life tore down to the lowest he could ever recall, he found some inclining of comfort in poetry. An art form he had abandoned due to insecurity and lack of self-worth. After the encouragement of two of his cousins and much journeying through the emotional wilderness, he found the strength to write his first piece in years "New Beginnings". It was here he was reminded of who he was, a Son of Light. From that moment for two years straight he pursued countless open mics, reading and reciting to as many people who would offer ear to what he kept dormant from people, even when he was in a moving Hip-Hop group known as TTFL. Practicing and practicing becoming comfortable with who he was, an artist who loved everything arts, gained the fruits of performing high profile shows, connecting different artists with one another, and most importantly, finding love for the person he looked at in the mirror every day with the help of poetic words that reminded him he was worth something. And that something is worth fighting for to preserve it. With his pieces both musically and poetically as "OutKast", "My Favorite Enemy", "Wordsmith", The Difference Between", "We Gotta Make It Out", what you are hearing is the energy of a human not only fighting for life but knowing what it means to enjoy it. And that very enjoyment of his craft is what has made him one of the freshest live performers this city has seen thus far. So if you ever see him in public, come up and say hello. Because he would be more than happy to show you the very person he is proud he has become: Me.
