Learning How, Without You | Poem

I'm learning how to breathe, without you

I know I've had love interests before

But you were my better half, more than just my rib

I'm learning how to smile, without you

The gnashing of evil voices relentless in my head

Are nothing to the sweet serenades of your empowering speech

I'm learning how to laugh, without you

I miss speaking to you nonstop on phone or in person

My object of obsession, a bliss of engaging times, you & I

I'm learning how to be happy, without you

The peace that befalls my nerves as you cuddled up to me in safety

The cuteness of your face quelled the chaos that fueled disruption

I'm learning how to have peace of mind, without you

Miracle it seems every time the light sheens on your skin as black gold

Same as your name this I know, for only in dreams am I this fortuned

I'm learning how to believe, without you

A dream I've woke from, tears in eyes, heart in denial

With a body to self-heal, and a mind trying to understand each time pass

To learn to live, without You
